We just released PowerKeys 1.0.1 on the App Store
Please update PowerKeys OSX to version 1.2
Make sure your device and your mac are on the same wireless network
You can also create a wireless network directly from your airport icon and connect your device to that network
In your mac:
1: Download PowerKeys OSX
2: Start PowerKeys OSX and keep it running to use PowerKeys
3: Grant permissions for any firewall request (OSX 10.5)
In your device:
1: Start PowerKeys
2: Select your PowerKeys OSX server in the connect screen
On next startup PowerKeys will try to auto connect to this machine
3: Default layout will be loaded, you are set to go !
If you have any issue when trying to use PowerKeys for the first time please reboot both the device and your mac
if issues continue please consult troubleshooting at the end of this page
Use the CONFIG button to change to a different layout or to customize current layout:
When you press config button a menu will pop up giving you the option to select the layout to use
To edit keys action and visual look, press the key you want to edit while in config mode, the config menu will show key edit options
Please note the menu is scrollable and you also have key action and save option if you scroll down !
When you are done editing a key, select another one to edit
Note: Key action menu does not currently have a save or back option, please select another key to exit this menu and return to Key config menu ( added in upcoming 1.0.1 update)
Remember to Save when you finish customizing a layout !
it will then show up in layouts list as "user saved"
Note: the saved layout is not automatically selected on app restart,
making some users assume it isn´t being saved
please select it to use after restart (this is will be fixed in update)
PowerKeys 1.0.1 features:
Improved menus correcting most of the glitches and bugs and implementing missing features like:
unlimited layouts (1 * 1 -> 6 * 6),
save with custom names,
delete,
send to desktop for backup
More complete key configuration options:
multiple modifiers,
corrected and added keycodes,
key active / inactive,
key label size
One last thing...
You will also be able to transfer layouts to the device by dragging them to the PowerKeys OSX dock icon
A layout editor desktop app and a user layout shared library will be released soon
Troubleshooting:
Q: I started PowerKeys OSX but nothing happened, now what ?
A: PowerKeys OSX is a silent server app, after starting it check if you have a PowerKeys icon near the clock area, if so start up PowerKeys on device
Q: I started PowerKeys on my device but it states "no servers found"...
A: Please make sure both the device and mac computer are connected to the same wireless network before starting up any of PowerKeys app
Make sure you are running the latest PowerKeys OSX 1.1
Q: I i can see my server but nothing happens when i click on it
A: This is usually a firewall related issue, most routers and OSX 10.5 allow PowerKeys operation without any problem, some routers and OSX 10.4 sometimes has some issues with firewall, if this seems to be your case please use the set port option in PowerKeys OSX and open that port in your firewall (tcp)
Q: Something wrong happened like PowerKeys terminating due to incoming call or battery drain while in the middle of a key command and now my desktop is acting crazy
A: Please quit PowerKeys OSX and restart it if you plan to keep using it
Q: Why do i need to use the new version of PowerKeys OSX ?
A: We just released PowerKeys1.0.1 in the App Store, this update includes layout transfer mechanism and requires PowerKeys OSX 1.1 or higher to work.
To avoid issues with users running the wrong PowerKeys OSX version, this OSX version will only work / communicate with newest iPhone OS app
Q: PowerKeys crashes when i access the config button ?
A: Please reboot your device to fix the crash
